On February 8th 2011, European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani, responsible for industry and entrepreneurship, announced that Daytime Running Lights shall be a mandatory on all EU new vehicles. Passenger cars and small delivery vans have to be equipped with Daytime Running Lights from February 7th 2011. Trucks and buses will follow suit in August 2012.
